Ruth Darlene Ragozzino, 85, of Petaluma, California passed away on October 28, 2019, with her family and sweet pups at her side in Double Horn, Texas.
She was born on March 28, 1934 in San Francisco, California to Raymond and Salina (Torres) Fessenden. Ruth grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, graduating from Richmond High School in Richmond, California. In 1963 she moved to South San Francisco, California. She went on to earn her Associate’s degree at Skyline Jr. College in San Bruno, California and then earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at San Francisco State University. Ruth married Aldo Ragozzino in 1981 and moved to Petaluma, California, where she lived until 2018.
Ruth loved being a grandmother. She delighted in picking her grandchildren up from school, teaching them how to drive, and participating in their everyday-lives. Holidays were special with Ruth, especially Halloween and Christmas – she was the heart of the festivities. Her home was always decorated and full of warmth and fun. For Halloween, she often made her grand kids costumes by hand.
The Christmas season officially began in Petaluma as Santa and Mrs. Claus (Ruth) arrived in Downtown Petaluma aboard a paddleboat on the Petaluma River. She loved to make appearances throughout the season as she joined Santa to greet children as Mrs Claus. This was always a thrill for the children! She loved watching their faces light up with glee.
Ruth leaves a legacy of love, selflessness, and grace. Her mission was to spread smiles…to see the faces of children light up…to share warmth…and to show love. Like the fuse in a string of Christmas lights, she made everyone around her light up and made the world a brighter place.
Ruth was a member of Elks Lodge No. 901 and Sorority Beta Sigma Phi in Petaluma. She loved attending all of the events, always enjoying the good times with all of her good friends.
She will be forever cherished by her daughter Laura Rathe and husband Wayne of Double Horn, Texas; daughter Lynda Martello of Anderson, California; sister Virginia Lee of Vacaville, California; grandchildren Marla Barczewski, Christopher Wyatt, Jeffrey Chonoplis, Kyra Maka, and Liana Maka; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Aldo Ragozzino, daughter Lesli Maka, brother Richard Fessenden; brother Robert Fessenden, and sister Pearl Fahey.
She will be laid to rest in Petaluma, beside Aldo, the Love of Her Life. Services will be held at a later date and will be announced by family. You may share your memories and condolences at www.CremationAdvocates.net.
